ILEA Instructor Renewals - Firearms Instructor Renewal 25J

Brief Description: One-Day course to renew current ILEA endorsed Firearms Instructors

Full Description: This one-day course will recertify individuals currently holding ILEA certification as a firearms instructor; upon successful course completion, certified firearms instructor status will be renewed until 12/31/2028.

Items on the course agenda include:
* Handgun requalification
* Shotgun requalification
* Written exam
* Use of force law update, if applicable
* Introduction to new training material and resources
* Coaching practice and observation

Note that this is a full day of training; with the exception of the lunch break, please plan to be at the range until approx. 1630 hours. Recertifying instructors will be required to score at least 90% on both the ILEA Firearms Instructor Qualification Course and the ILEA Shotgun Qualification Course. Visit https://ilea.iowa.gov and click “for agencies” then “firearms courses of fire” to find the current required courses of fire and target information.

Equipment Needed:
* Range clothing appropriate for the weather conditions
* Eye and ear protection
* Ball cap
* Body armor
* Duty handgun
* Duty shotgun
* Duty belt or equivalent
500 rounds of handgun ammunition, 10 rounds of 00 buckshot, and 25 slugs. Practice ammunition only – duty ammunition is not required.
Sunscreen, insect repellant, and water/hydration are highly recommended.
